Perhaps good for serial data communication, but not for programming. The USB cable as sold via the internetĪ closer study of the cable showed that the pinout of the connector was incorrect. Anyway, my first action was to cut off the USB connector with integrated level converter. But via the internet also bare accessory connectors are sold for far less money. So as I already owned that cable I’ve continued my project with it. Not a real bargain, but I got fooled by the rumor the MTM800 could be programmed via the USB interface. Those cables change owner for about 30 Euros. Via the internet USB programming cables for the MTM800 are offered. With the exception the Tetra radio has some more pins. A similar connector can be found at the GM300 or the TM900 series. To program the MTM800 the accessory connector at the backside of the radio is to be used. But this is also the most expensive solution.
The easiest way is to purchase all accessories from Motorola. I became aware of this after obtaining a Motorola MTM800. Please respect this.Programming Motorola Tetra radios is not always easy. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola). The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming.
